The jobs nobody else wants

Most locksmiths will not drive out for a mailbox. The job is small, the ticket is small, and it is easier to say no. We say yes, and we charge it like the small job it is rather than loading it up to make the trip worthwhile.

Mailbox locks

Cluster boxes, wall boxes and the old curbside kind. The usual reasons people call: the key snapped off, the key was never handed over when they moved in, the lock will turn but the door will not come open, or the whole thing has seized after years outside. We open it, fit a new lock and cut you two keys. We will need something showing the address is yours.

If the box belongs to a building or an association, say so on the call. Sometimes the manager holds a master and it costs you nothing.

Storage units and lockers

A padlock with a lost key, a disc lock that has rusted solid, a built-in unit lock that will not accept its own key any more. We cut it off or open it, and we can fit a replacement on the spot so you are not leaving your things behind an open door. Bring the rental agreement and identification.

Bedroom and bathroom doors

Interior doors lock themselves more often than people expect. A privacy latch trips, the handle spins without catching, a child turns the little button and pulls the door shut behind them. These open quickly and almost always without damage.

If someone is shut in, especially a child or an older person, tell us that on the call and we treat it as urgent. If there is any danger at all, call 911 first and then call us.

Filing cabinets and desks

Office furniture that came with the building and no keys. We open it and replace the lock so you have working keys instead of a drawer you can never close again.

What these cost

Less than the jobs above them on this site, which is the point. You get the range on the phone before anyone drives out, including the service-call fee if there is one, and the exact price before any work starts.
