Locksmith around SFO
Licensed mobile locksmith covering the SFO airport belt 24/7. Luggage locks, hotel room safes and car keys, at the car or at your door.
The airport belt is our own back yard
We are based in Foster City. Millbrae, San Bruno, Burlingame and South San Francisco each have their own page on this site because we work them every week, and SFO sits in the middle of that, in San Mateo County. We are not driving down from the city when you call. We are already on this side of the bay.
Every technician on the Dawn & The Lock team works directly for us, carries ID, and arrives in a stocked van. We're licensed by the State of California (LCO #6970), bonded and insured.
Luggage and travel locks
This is the one nobody writes about, and it comes up constantly. A TSA padlock that will not open after a flight. A combination you set in a hurry three weeks ago and cannot bring back. A built-in dial on a hard case that spins and does nothing. A zipper lock that jammed somewhere between here and the baggage belt.
We open these, and where the case can be saved we save it. Where it cannot, we say so before we start rather than after. Bring it to us or we meet you at the hotel. It is a small job, we price it like a small job, and you are not stuck buying a new case at an airport shop.
Hotel room safes
The safe in the closet that will not open, almost always the night before a flight. Properties along Airport Boulevard in Burlingame and Millbrae and on the South San Francisco side call us for this, and so do guests directly. We open it, and if the lock itself is finished we can tell the property exactly what it needs.
Same for an in-room safe that lost power, or one where the override key walked off years ago and nobody noticed until a guest needed it at eleven at night.
Car keys in the airport lots
The usual one. The only key is at home in another state, or it went into a checked bag that kept flying. We come to the lot, cut and program a new key beside the vehicle, and we do not pack up until it starts, locks and unlocks, so the car drives out instead of going on a truck.
Two things to know. Proof of ownership comes first every time, so keep your ID and the registration or rental agreement handy. And we do not work on Tesla. Every other major make is covered.

SFO area locksmith questions
Can you open a suitcase lock without ruining the suitcase?
Usually yes. TSA padlocks and most built-in combination dials can be opened without damage. On some hard cases the lock is part of the shell and opening it leaves a mark. We tell you which one you are dealing with before we touch it, not after.
The safe in my hotel room will not open. Do I call you or the hotel?
Tell the front desk first, since many properties have their own override procedure and it costs you nothing. If they cannot get into it, we can. Either the property calls us or you do.
How fast can you reach the airport area?
From Foster City it is usually 15 to 25 minutes, depending on which side of the airport you are on. We confirm the real arrival time on the call based on where the nearest van is.
Can you make a car key in the parking garage?
Yes. We work in the public parking structures, the long-term lots, the Rental Car Center and the airport hotel lots. We cannot work past security inside the terminals, so if the car is in a lot, we come to the car.
Need someone at the airport right now?
Call (650) 530-6646. We'll tell you where the nearest van is, when it will arrive, and the price range before it leaves.
